We are looking for a Finance Assistant to join our team based in York, to provide financial expertise and support to the England and Wales Hire business. Alongside completing your ACA Qualification, you’ll gain a broad experience in Management Accounting from both a Commercial and Operational setting, with a particular focus on targets and efficiencies.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will also support the Central Finance Team, encouraging the achievements of business targets.

Role Details
- Salary: £21,000 - £25,000
- Role based: York, YO32 9PT
- Contract type: Permanent
- Annual leave: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
Role Responsibilities
* Analyse and interpret the accounts, ensuring there is a full understanding of the financial implications of decisions and issues affecting their business area.
* Assist in the preparation of monthly Management Accounts to strict deadlines, helping to ensure that all Balance Sheet Accounts are reconciled each month, taking corrective action to guarantee timeliness and accuracy of information.
* Engage in the preparation of monthly profit and loss, cash flow and capital forecasts.
* Aid the annual budget process for the business ensuring reports are completed and deadlines met, and a thorough budget is prepared.
* Assist with ensuring that the systems of control and reporting provide relevant, timely and accurate management information and be involved in cross company initiatives where required.

Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who has:
* GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or above.
* Minimum A Level or equivalent education.
* Demonstrates Financial Awareness.
* Solid understanding of various software packages, including MS Excel and PowerPoint.
* Analyses numerical data, verbal data, and all other sources of information.
* Takes initiative, acts with confidence, and works under own direction.
* Works in a systematic, methodical, and orderly way.
