We’re looking for a motivated Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Apprentice who will bring energy, new ideas and a fresh perspective to help Portakabin continue to lead and transform the world of modular buildings.   

As a Health and Safety Apprentice, at Portakabin you will be based at our Head Office York, your role will be supporting the wider HSE team to achieve Zero Harm. Your role will be focused on supporting day-to-day health, safety and environmental activities and safety crucial improvements to ensure ongoing success in manufacturing.

Our professional apprenticeship programme has been developed to ensure you are supported throughout every step of your journey. Your 2 year apprenticeship will be delivered through a blended learning approach supported by our provider RHG Consulting. You will be stretched, challenged and supported by a business that views your professional development as a priority.   

During the programme you will complete a Level 3 Health, Safety and Environmental Technician apprenticeship, working across a range of projects, which will offer the breadth and variety to support your development. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities  

  • Design and implement HSE improvement programs and initiatives
  • Ensure safe operations procedures are properly implemented
  • Develop HSE processes and procedures
  • Represent the HSE team at key meetings and forums
  • Carry out site checks and audits to ensure policies and procedures are being properly implemented
  • Ensure necessary documentation is provided
  • Assist with HSE training

 

Our Ideal Candidate   

  • Computer literate with a solid understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint  
  • 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at Level 4 – 9 (or equivalent) 
  • High levels of collaborative team working
  • A self-starting attitude, spotting opportunities for improvement and taking a natural lead.
  • A conscientious attitude – delivering what you agree to deliver.
  • Has the ability to build highly trusted relationships with colleagues, third parties and internal stakeholders.
