Reporting to the Head of Group Property to provide a comprehensive property development, project management and maintenance service within the UK and Europe to Portakabin and Shepherd Group.

Role Details 

  • Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum
  • Role based: York, YO32 9PT
  • Contract type: Permanent 
  • Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays 

Role Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all activities undertaken whether personal or as part of the role, comply with the health, safety & environmental standards of the Company.  Manage CPP’s, assessment and recording of RAMS.
  • Advise on the suitability of identified sites and buildings.
  • Undertake or arrange site surveys to cover structural, geotechnical, environmental, topographical, drainage, utility, planning and to provide professional comment on the findings.
  • Obtain planning permission and building control/warrant approval.
  • Create specifications, scope of works, budget estimates, tender list, tender evaluation and placing of orders for proposed developments.
  • Appraise tender submissions for commercial viability and compliance.
  • Project manage the developments liaising with both internal and external service providers.  To include site programming, contract management, site meetings, contractor co-ordination, valuation formation, final account, quality checks and processing of agreed payments.
  • Control site costs and progress ensuring jobs are delivered on budget.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory requirements.
  • Prepare and negotiate Schedules of Condition.
  • Negotiate or oversee Schedules of Dilapidations and remedial works at lease expiry.
  • To provide a support service to the existing hire operations for property related matters including but not restricted to site maintenance, additional site development, security and fire safety issues.
  • Adhere to all Quality Systems, Environmental Systems e.g., ISO 9001 and 14001:2015 and The Portakabin Standard.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Qualification in a building/construction subject – Degree/HND.
  • CSCS – Certification Project Management Level.
  • CITB – SMTS Construction Site Manager Training.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Experience in preparation of building surveys and/schedules of condition
  • Project control of groundworks, Industrial building construction and industrial fit outs.
  • Contract management, QS & site measurement experience. 
  • Understanding of traditional construction methods, current building regulations and pre-construction phases including below ground and building services.
