Join our team in St Albans as a Service Manager and you will manage the operational team, labour and resources required for two busy Portaloo centres. You will lead the refurbishment and fitout of Portaloo buildings, ensuring effective cost control, meeting/improving upon planned costs and working within agreed timescales to achieve our On Time, On Budget Pledge. A key aspect of the role is to continuously drive performance improvement initiatives and aspire towards operational excellence using newly implemented lean principles.

Role Details 

  • Salary: £40,000 - £43,000
  • Role based: St Albans, AL2 2DZ
  • Contract type: Fixed term – 12 months
  • Annual leave: 25 plus bank holidays

Role Responsibilities

*         Accountable for assessing and managing the risks that all employees, direct or indirect, are exposed to  

*         Management responsibility of 6 direct reports across two geographical operational centres to include:  

o   recruitment in line with Portakabin procedures  

o   identifying training and development opportunities 

o   conducting monthly meaningful performance conversations 

o   undertaking the 6 monthly merit review program  

o   authorising weekly payroll 

*         Accountable for the interaction with Portakabin material stores functions at both locations; keeping all stakeholders aware of future material requirements, maintaining the flow of parts for refurbishment, rectification and rebuild activities

*         Manage the rotation of fleet buildings in both locations to avoid deterioration and to achieve optimum availability

*         Ensure that the refurbishment of Portaloo Buildings are to the standard required and costs are within established parameters and budgets checking that workmanship adheres to Portaloo standards and technical specifications

*         Ensure that all process activity meets standards required within the relevant Quality Systems e.g. ISO 9001

*         Ensure the quality of input onto company systems, including SAP & CRM, is in line with company expectations, accounting practices and quality standards

*         Tightly mange material and labour costs in order to maximise profitability.

*         Ensure sufficient quantity and quality of sub-contract labour is available if required

*         Provide on-hire customer support including attending on-hire locations to assess fleet-building quality, managing rectification request response and supporting the termination process

*         Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Portakabin business
